2009
I am working on a new recording with the help of some
very good friends in LA and my dear friend Todd Parsnow
from Dallas/Syracuse.
Kirk Fletcher and I, along with James Gadson, have been
developing
quite the sound over the last couple years and are ready
to bring it
to the people!!
It is a blend of deeply rooted blues with a lot of
soul, funk and
energy. We've held down a residency for two years at
The Sugarmill
Saloon in Tarzana, Ca each month. We've tried different
combinations
of players and instrumentation along the way and have
gotten to really
stretch out and play!! It has been VERY exciting to
see the growth.
Some friends of note to pass on a thank you to, who
have been
supportive and hands on in the development of this new
sound are, in
no particular order, Travis Carlton, Sam Meek, Gerry
Brown, Bobby
Tsukamoto, Ben Mauro, Gary "Scruff" Davenport,
Michael Landau, Gary
Novack, Stewart Jean, Josh Smith and Luke Miller. They
have all helped
us, along the way, pushing us in one direction or another.
We have
weeded out the things we dig and don't dig and try each
song of each
night to give you, the listeners, something special
and unique. Now
it's time to move on and show off the sound to wider
audiences.
For starters, we have found a new residency at Harvelle's
in Santa
Monica on Monday nights. It's Kirk and I along with
James Gadson and
Bobby Tsukamoto as the regulars. We'll often times have
some of the
above mentioned friends along to stir things up a bit.
I'd like to
thank Harvelle's for giving us the opportunity to present
this sound
on a regular basis.
I will be doing a short tour in Europe in October with
blues great
Lucky Peterson and Todd Parsnow. Todd is arranging a
working
relationship with the booking agency in Paris to get
us over there for
some touring. He will be included and be a great compliment
to Kirk's
playing. I know once we present our music to the public
it will knock
'em out!! So I'm thankful for the opportunity to do
it!!
Come out sometime and support this incredible group
of musicians and
the music we've worked hard to present.
All the Best,
Paulie Cerra
